A four-passenger plane crashed after losing contact and veering off course.

Several reports say a private Cessna crashed in the Baltic Sea after the pilot lost communication with air traffic control and adopted an odd flying route.

As of Monday, there have been no reports of any survivors being found. According to reports in German and Swedish media,

Peter Griesemann, a 72-year-old German businessman, was traveling with his wife Juliane, daughter Lisa, and a male friend at the time of his disappearance.

On Sunday, the plane went down in the waters off the coast of Latvia for reasons that are still a mystery to investigators. It was off route by hundreds of kilometers.

According to a source from Sweden, when military planes were asked to examine the Cessna while it was in the air, no one was in the cockpit or cabin.

According to the flight tracking website FlightRadar, the Cessna 551 left Jerez, Spain at 14:56 local time on Sunday and was on route to Cologne, Germany when it took off.

Bild stated that after the flight departed Spanish territory, the crew reported cabin pressure concerns and lost contact with ATC. Axel Springer owns Insider and Bild.

Lars Antonsson, a representative for the Swedish Maritime Administration, disclosed this information during a conversation he had with Insider.

He said that German, Danish, and Swedish military jets had chased the Cessna as it swerved wildly over their country.

As the aircraft crossed into Swedish land, it was being chased by a helicopter from the Swedish Coast Guard as well as two Swedish fighter jets, according to Antonsson.

Antonsson says the Swedish pilots reported seeing no one at the controls or in the cabin, like their German and Danish colleagues.
