After encountering “unexpected turbulence,” American Airlines’ American Eagle Flight 3609 made an emergency landing in Alabama with 52 passengers and crew on board.

The plane landed at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport “without incident” at 3:17 p.m. CT and taxied to the gate after the crew announced an emergency landing.
Six passengers and two flight attendants were injured. American Airlines called their hospital transfer “further examination.”
It has been confirmed by the FAA via a statement that the agency will be conducting an investigation into this occurrence.
