Donald R. Surrett, 66, reportedly attacked the gunman during Sunday’s shooting rampage, saving more victims.
While serving in the military, Surrett was found guilty of sexual offenses, as shown by court documents from the military justice system.
Surrett pled guilty to carnal knowledge and indecent behaviour with a child in 1994. His sins landed him in Fort Leavenworth.
The Oregonian and OregonLive received a copy of the registry that listed him as a category one sex offender. This means he had the lowest recidivism risk.
According to veteran Kenneth Hauge, while Surrett did acknowledge to having spent time in jail, he preferred not to address the matter and would rather not talk about it.
Local organizations of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars will remember Surrett, he said.
Safeway claimed Surrett passed a third-party background check. The corporation didn’t know about his arrests and sentences.
According to the information provided in his profile, Surrett has been working in the produce department of the firm since 2018,
And he has been a resident of La Pine at least since the beginning of the 2000s. It was discovered that he had no criminal record in Oregon.
