Following their arrival at Union Station in Chicago, migrants were transported to their next destination by bus.

Elk Grove Hamlet authorities say they were told by state officials on September 9 at 1:30 p.m. that 90 migrants would arrive the next day.

Elk Grove Village officials stated they were “not alerted in advance” of the migrants’ arrival and had received “no direction from state, county, or Chicago authorities”

In response to the inquiries made by the Elk Grove Village administration, the state decided to postpone by one day the arrival of the group of migrants traveling by bus.

Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson called Chicago and state authorities’ response “haphazard” in a robocall to the neighborhood.
