“With Banjo, something is going on.”
Rare’s Banjo-Kazooie is rumored to be returning, starring the bear and bird who made a name for themselves during the Nintendo 64 age.
Game creator Modern Vintage Gamer indicated a comeback could be on the way in the newest episode of the Nate the Hate Nate the Hate podcast, based on what he has heard across the industry.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nutz & Boltz, the series’ most recent installment, was released exclusively on the Xbox 360 in 2008, and it was undoubtedly a game that fell short of the legacy of the Nintendo 64 originals from 1998 and 2000.
Although the IP is currently owned by Microsoft, Nintendo Switch enthusiasts will recall that the famed duo has been on Nintendo devices on several times. Banjo-Kazooie debuted as a DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. 3 three years ago. The original Nintendo 64 classic was reissued earlier this year on Nintendo’s Switch Online service.
The resurrection of Banjo-Kazooie isn’t the only old-school Rare game rumored. There’s reason to believe that the famous first-person shooter GoldenEye 007 (which debuted on the Nintendo 64 in 1997) may be revived as well.
Some rumors have even surfaced concerning a future Switch Online version of the original game.
