South Korea avoids using harsh rhetoric to prevent escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula, thus its recent words will anger North Korea.
North Korea is outgunned by the U.S. and South Korea, therefore some believe it won’t deploy its nuclear weapons first. This despite North Korea’s bellicose nuclear stance.
According to South Korea’s Defense Ministry, this bill would further isolate North Korea and push South Korea and the U.S. to “enhance their deterrent and response capabilities.”
South Korea will improve its preemptive strike strategy, missile defense, and reprisal capabilities to deter North Korea from utilizing nuclear weapons.
South Korea will ask the U.S. to protect its ally using all possible methods, including nuclear weapons.
Earlier, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the U.S. “remains completely committed to (South) Korea’s defense”
Jean-Pierre said the U.S. has no aggressive intentions toward North Korea and is instead focused on working with its partners to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
