At least nine individuals were shot in Washington Park on Tuesday night, and two died. Wednesday, Chicago police taped off the park after the incident.

Chicago police said two groups were engaged in a “personal dispute” about 7:45 p.m. at a park on the 500 block of East 51st Street.

Both sides fired heavily. Two other gunshot victims self-transported themselves to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they are in stable condition.

Another victim, a 19-year-old shot many times and sent to the University of Chicago Medical Center, died. He died there.

A 43-year-old man died at the University of Chicago Medical Center after being shot in the back of the head.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has shown beyond a reasonable doubt that Khalil Denny and Lionel Coward are the same individuals.

Republican candidate for governor Darren Bailey turned the scene of the murder into a political platform by speaking out against gun violence at the scene of the crime.

Bailey was accused of using the tragedy for political benefit by demonstrators who lived in the area.
