A man was killed and two children were injured in Birmingham.

According to the police, a man died after being shot and then colliding with another vehicle on Friday night on the west side of Birmingham.

His two small children, a son aged 1 and a daughter aged 2 or 3, were severely injured as a result of the incident.

North and West Precincts of the Birmingham Police Department responded to a traffic collision around 6 p.m.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department stated that officers from both precincts were present at the scene.

Fitzgerald said cops found a man, believed to be the vehicle's driver, slumped over and dead with several gunshot wounds. Medical examiner determined he died at the site.

The occupants in the second vehicle were also injured in the collision. It was believed that the amount of harm sustained was not lethal.

As of 7:30 p.m. Friday, no suspects had been apprehended, and police asked witnesses to phone 205-254-1764 or CrimeStoppers at 205-254-7777.

According to the reports of the police, there was only one automobile engaged in the shooting, and that car was the one in which the victim was traveling.
