A woman threatened to bomb Boston Children's Hospital.

A female caller to the Boston Children's Hospital said that she had received information that a bomb was on its way. The threat turned out to be groundless.

Catherine Leavy, a Westfield, Massachusetts resident, was arrested early Thursday morning, police said.

As a result of fabricating a hoax bomb threat, the 37-year-old man is being charged with one count of federal explosive materials.

After her appearance in court on Thursday afternoon, the judge ordered that she be detained until the outcome of her hearing on Friday.

If convicted, Leavy faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine, according to US Attorney Rachael Rollins.
