A Brazilian man was detained on Thursday on suspicion of putting a gun to the head of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, the vice president of Argentina.

Authorities told the Argentine daily Clarn that they had apprehended a 35-year-old Brazilian man for carrying a weapon, but they gave no additional details.

The man had a loaded.32 caliber revolver, according to reports. Person apprehended at Federal Police offices in Villa Lugano.

After the event, the President of the nation, Alberto Fernández, described it as "extremely serious" and "the most severe that has occured since we have restored our democracy."
