Authorities say a vehicle killed a Bay Area student.

On Friday morning, a third-grade kid was murdered when a car hit him and an adult lady at a crossing outside Castlemont Elementary School in San Jose.

It was 8:03 in the morning when the collision happened on Castlemont Avenue, and details were still being uncovered.

The lady was brought to the hospital with moderate injuries, authorities added. Authorities further said that the driver remained at the site and was cooperative.

At Castlemont Elementary School, Superintendent Shelly Viramontez revealed that a kid in the third grade had passed away.

Viramontez added, "Our school community is heartbroken by this situation, since we care for and love every single kid as our own."
