Due to the fact that it being a holiday weekend, there were probably less people at a number of Jersey Shore locales than there would have been on a typical Sunday.

Even at midday, there were parking spaces available at Island Beach State Park, which is a famous tourist destination.

The officials had been concerned that if the park were opened to the public, it would generate traffic congestion in the surrounding region.
