Despite a trial court in Jharkhand issuing a summons for Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel, the Supreme Court has delayed the proceedings.

Jharkhand government was put on notice after the actor filed a petition with a bench of Justices B R Gavai and P S Narasimha.

However, the highest court ruled that legal action must be taken for violations of Section 138 (cheque bounce) of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Ameesha Patel's appeal was heard today. She appealed to the Jharkhand High Court on May 5, 2022, after a Ranchi trial court refused to overturn the order against her.

The court noted violations of Sections 406, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act based on a producer's complaint.

According to the allegations, Singh transferred 2.5 crore to the actor in order to provide financial support for the production of the film "Desi Magic."

But Ms. Patel didn't make the film and didn't refund the money. All accused should reimburse the money, according to the top court's initial assessment.
