A long-lost companion convinces Durin IV to search for his father in the bowels of Khazad-dûm, where the latter is finally located.
He tries to reassure King Durin III that Elrond “does not know” their secret, but the king is not convinced by his words.
In spite of the fact that the program has not yet confirmed what is within the chest, the general consensus is that it contains the very precious and rare metal known as mithril.
Certain viewers who have a good eye for detail noticed that in one of the teasers for The Rings of Power, Durin IV was spotted holding a little metallic item.
These viewers noticed. This material resembles mithril, a metal mined by Khazad-dwarves dûm’s for its strength and light weight.
Bilbo steals a chainmail shirt from Smaug in The Hobbit. Jewelry was another popular use. Galadriel maintains Celebrimbor’s Elven ring, Nenya.
